Who We Are

Greg Bostwick
Senior Expert Meteorologist
As a senior studying meteorology in 1979, I seized an exciting opportunity that July, stepping straight into local broadcasting in Southeast Texas—a move that launched a fulfilling career spanning more than four decades, seamlessly weaving academic pursuits with real-world forecasting from day one. After years of dedicated service in local broadcasting and consulting, I took a bold step forward in July 2025, co-founding Gulf Coast Weather Solutions alongside my son Lucas and trusted colleague Johnny Ray Lively. It felt like the right moment to build something truly special: a dedicated weather service tailored to the Gulf Coast's one-of-a-kind climate—its humid summers, unpredictable fronts, and fierce tropical threats—and the hardworking people who call it home.
Today, you'll catch me delivering evening weather updates on television, bright and early weekday mornings on KLVI-AM radio, and providing expert consulting services to local industries and emergency management teams. At Gulf Coast Weather Solutions, my focus is stepping in during those extreme events—major hurricanes, catastrophic floods, and other high-stakes weather crises—to deliver the urgent, precise updates that help keep families and communities safe when it matters most. Over the years, I've tracked hundreds of tropical cyclones, always with a profound sense of responsibility toward the families who rely on those predictions to stay safe. Among the most unforgettable were Allen in 1980, Alicia in 1983, Bonnie in 1986, Andrew in 1992, Rita in 2005, Humberto in 2007, Ike in 2008, Harvey in 2017, Imelda in 2019, and Laura and Delta in 2020. Storms like Harvey and Imelda brought unprecedented flooding to our region, turning streets into rivers and testing the spirit of Southeast Texas in ways that demanded every ounce of vigilance. Meanwhile, Laura carved a path of devastation through southwest Louisiana in 2020, a stark reminder of the Gulf's interconnected vulnerabilities. Rita and Ike stand out as the true heavyweights, leaving lasting scars on our region through widespread devastation—lessons that underscore why I remain ever hopeful for calmer hurricane seasons ahead.
A proud Texas A&M Aggie at heart, I'm an enthusiastic supporter of Aggie football, and there's nothing quite like game day at Kyle Field.
When I'm not chasing storms, you'll find me tending to Bostwick Farms, my greenhouse and nursery just outside Winnie. It's a labor of love—growing and supplying plants to local landscapers and nurseries—where I relish the chance to trade radar screens for soil-stained hands.
Southeast Texas has been home to my family and me for generations, and we're looking forward to savoring retirement right here amid the landscapes we've come to cherish. Thank you for trusting Gulf Coast Weather Solutions with your weather needs—it's an honor to serve this community.
